Choice of Restorative Materials for Direct Posterior Restorations among Undergraduate Saudi College Students

Background: The most common restorative materials used in dentistry are amalgam and composite. Amalgam is a controversial material owing to its mercury toxicity. With recent advances the properties of composite materials, there has been shift towards use. Objectives: aim this study was understand perceptions undergraduate dental students northern Saudi Arabian school about choice for restoring posterior teeth. Methodology: included studying 4th 5th year program College Dentistry, Jouf University. A four-item questionnaire with 18 close-ended questions developed by investigators, which were hand delivered all students. Data analysis presented through tables descriptive methods. Results: total 98 (out 131) participated study. Overall, reported significantly strong influence type relation cavity size margin restorations along esthetics factor(p<0.05). There slight on student’s because instructor's influence, whereas felt they knowledgeable had appropriate training use either or also found that patient’s preference choosing material. mostly not influenced while as far safety it concerned. However, when came significant difference noted among pregnancy-related concerns where (p=.002). Conclusion: at University comfortable using both They adequately trained one.
